.......to our Iowa City-based band "HomeBrewed". We are having a blast playing Rockabilly, Rock and Blues for receptive crowds to whom we are indebted for their support. Having fun is key as we play tunes from the likes of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Stray Cats, Keb Mo, LIttle Walter, Queen, George Thorogood, Eric Clapton, Sonny Boy Williamson and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. We love all kinds of music, thus we have chosen to play music that goes back to the intersection of blues, gospel and country and play the songs that led to rock and rock and roll. We use our music to also give back for all of the blessings we have had in life and play primarily for fundraisers for charitable organizations. Please let us know if you have a fundraiser in the Iowa City area that would benefit from having live music.

Food Bank Blowout

The 2018 Crisis Center Food Bank Last Dash benefit to wrap up Project Holiday was very special-thank you to all who attended and/or contributed. Over 150 people came out to the Mill, as we raised over $2500 toward holiday meals for the less fortunate! It was so much fun to play with Mr.Kevin Burt (and Phoebe). The crowd was clearly having fun. Thank you to all of the sponsors who provided donations for the raffle, which was a huge success.

Great support for Penfield at Linnemans in Milwaukee

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported the fundraiser for the Penfield Children's Center held at Jim Linneman's fantastic music venue in Milwaukee. It was a very special night with an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 people packing Linnemans listening to Grant Lewis's fantastic ballads and HomeBrewed's bluesy Rock and Roll. Over $2400 was raised toward a new playground at Penfield. An added benefit was that the event brought together family and friends, some of whom had not seen each other in 30+ years, and others who traveled significant distances to be there. Penfield is a special place, staffed by special people, including my niece Stephanie Shabangu who organized the event. The support from the community (in the broadest sense of the word) was incredible. I know the members of HomeBrewed enjoyed the evening immensely. Thank you!

You Raised the Roof for the IC Free Clinic!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Mill for the benefit gig to support the Free Medical and Dental Clinics' efforts to put a new roof on the building. Together we were able to raise over $2000 to stop the leaks. Thanks to Two Bit Maniac and all who donated. If you weren't able to attend but would like to donate, you can give online at: http://freemedicalclinic.org/

New member of the band

HomeBrewed is very excited to introduce our new drummer Cameron Gray. Cameron is a current dental student and has been playing percussion since the age of 7, mainly playing in school and church bands. His favorite genre of music is indie rock and likes to collect records in his free time. Cameron will be sharing drummer duties with Jacob as schedules allow (for some reason dental school seems like it can be a busy time!). We appreciate the willingness of both Cameron and Jacob to share their time and talent for others.

Iowa City Public Library benefit a great success

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the ICPL's outreach programs last night at the Mill. About 75 people came out on a Tuesday to help raise $1100 for the Library's Foundation. Patty McCarthy and the ICPL Foundation Board are doing great things to bring the valuable resources of the library out to the community. Please support them whenever you can.

Thanks for supporting domestic violence prevention

Over 100 people came out to the Mill to support the Domestic Violence Intervention Program and the Rape Victim Advocacy Program last Sunday in less than ideal weather. Between the gate, raffle, silent auction, and pledge cards, about $2000 was raised to help keep the phone consulting service operating for families in need. It was a pleasure playing along with Two Bit Maniac who were outstanding. Another fun event for a great cause. Thanks to all who attended and helped with the organization of the benefit.

Camp Kesem's importance highlighted

Congratulations to all the young adults, especially Taylor Hayden, who organized the benefit in support of Iowa's Camp Kesem, a free summer camp for children who have a parent with cancer. This first of its kind event in Iowa City, was a great success with over 100 people donating close to $10,000 toward the costs of the summer camp. Excellent food as well. HomeBrewed was privileged to be a part.

UIVA support strong

Over 100 people came out to the Iowa City VFW to support student Veterans at the University of Iowa. Through the generosity of those in attendance, silent auction and raffle items and donations from the Iowa City and Riverside VFWs, over $10,000 was raised for the development of a new job placement initiative. Thanks to all who participated!

Thanks for supporting Compeer

About 150 people came out for the Compeer Sound of Friendship Dessert Concert. Great fun to be able to join the other wonderful musicians-Al Zimmerman, Kol Shira and the UI acapella choir Intersection. Compeer provides peer support for people with mental illness and are in need of "friends" to assist their clients. Please consider volunteering. Also thank you to Kevin Sellers, who handled the sound board at the Our Redeemer Lutheran church and tried his best to make us sound good :0)
